ABOUT HANSEL TAN
A proud graduate of Wesleyan and Oxford University (St Catherine's College), Hansel Tan originally hails from the sunny isle of Singapore, which, as he often reminds his New England brethren, is not in China.
He received his early theatrical education in Singapore with ACSian Theatre and the SRT Young Company, eventually working with numerous local companies such as The Singapore Repertory Theatre, W!LD RICE Theatre, BUDS, and The Stage Club, on landmark productions such as Homesick, Asian Boys: Vol. 3, Own Time Own Target, and Romeo and Juliet.
Since moving to New York City in 2010 after his studies, Hansel has performed extensively Off-Broadway, Regionally, and Internationally. He is a previous member of The Flea Theater's repertory group of actors "The Bats," and continues to work extensively with new composers and playwrights at the BMI Engels-Lehman Workshop and the NYU Graduate Musical Theater Writer's Program.
Hansel is a recipient of the Singapore National Arts Council Overseas Bursary Award for Music and Theater, the Wesleyan Lipsky Choral Prize, and is a proud member of Actor's Equity Association.
